Northwest Coast Fashion: Style In a Different Light

Museum of Anthropology Fashion Show 2017

I was honoured to be one of three Northwest Coast Indigenous fashion designers featured at UBC’s MOA Fashion show after VIFW. Autmun Jules, Meghan O’Brien and I, showcased our recent works on live models and discuss our distinct visions of Indigenous design. Each of us in our own way, are transforming the world of contemporary couture through creating inspired works, that draw on our unique indigenous heritage. As designers we also shared our various perspectives on historical artworks featured in the new exhibition, In a Different Light: Reflecting on Northwest Coast Art. This event was co-produced by MOA and Vancouver Indigenous Fashion Week 2017.

MOA - Fashion Show

Thank you to the incredible staff at MOA who co-produced the event along with VIFW’s creator Joleen Mitton and the lovely AMR models who gracefully participated in this special cultural endeavour. Also, a thank you to Photographer Daniel Mosquin for capturing the moment and the incredible AMR team that did the hair and make-up.

Ha’mii’ ya,
